Facilitating Church and Community Mobilisation 2021

About This Course

This certified course equips you to mobilise local churches to break mindsets of dependency and work with their community to achieve holistic change, especially for the most vulnerable. You will learn to facilitate:

  • Bible studies that envision churches with God’s heart for justice and His commands to care for people’s physical and spiritual needs.
  • Participatory activities that enable communities to identify their own problems, discover the abundance of their own resources, find solutions and act together, taking responsibility for their own development.

CCM equips local churches to live out the biblical mandate to seek justice and show radical love for those who are most vulnerable. While individuals and churches may already be involved in social justice, something uniquely powerful happens when whole churches together listen to and work with (not for) their community. Not only do they catalyse lasting change in people’s lives, but communities are drawn back to the church.

Requirements

Online training will involve a 1-2-hour session once every two weeks, followed by a short practical assignment. There are 15 sessions total and you will receive your certificate by completing all the practical assignments.

This course is paired with ‘Facilitating Church and Community Mobilisation: Going Deeper’. However, if you can only complete this half, you will still be equipped as a Church and Community Mobilisation (CCM) facilitator. The second course would build on this learning with additional skills.

You do not need any prior expertise or experience for this course. It may be of interest to church leaders, development professionals or anyone else eager to see local churches actively seeking God’s justice with their communities.

Note: this course is primarily designed for Christians as it is designed to facilitate with local churches. However, it is open to people of all faiths (or none) who are interested in the role of faith and mindset in behavioural change and want to increase their skills in participatory development.
